The challenge of creating the first sneaker of the post-oil era

It's part of Tátil's DNA. Since the beginning of our history, nature has been seen as a source of inspiring strategic solutions that point to new, smarter and more sustainable paths. That's why we have a very special fondness for this project that we were invited to participate in.

VERT — known abroad as Veja Shoes — asked us to develop a biomimicry project for the brand's first sports sneaker. A sneaker from the post-oil era that takes into account the entire sustainable chain already used by the brand, from the use of materials that cause low environmental impact to its production, which is all carried out here in Brazil.

The process was a collective one and brought together a creative team of designers, strategists, and a biologist who is an expert on the subject. The research work on Amazonian animals led us to a surprising cross-referencing, materialized in the inspiration of the region's birds.

This is how Condor was born. A sports sneaker that combines new technologies and lightness. With beautiful and innovative shapes, designed to be sustainable. A project from a brand that acts with purpose and takes center stage within its segment.

THE FAST ANIMALS OF THE AMAZON RAINFOREST

A sole inspired by bird bones

To be able to fly without getting tired, birds need to be as light as possible. That's why all birds have hollow bones, filled with air. They are composed of a trabecular structure, which keeps them strong and light at the same time. Based on these connections and one of the main characteristics of sports shoes, which is their performance, we arrived at the design and structure of the sole.

The result is a sneaker that has reduced the amount of plastic in its composition from 99% to 53%. It is made from rubber native to the Amazon, organic cotton, jute, recycled plastic bottles, banana and castor oils, sugarcane, and rice husks.

Condor is VERT's first step into the world of running. A huge gain within the segment where design acts as a lens in the business world, combining creative brilliance and strategic precision.
